Bought five astilbe's a few years ago and planted two in pots and the other three in the garden bed. I mulch the garden beds in March and that is all I feed my flower beds. The pots get a tomato feed and they seem to like it. These plants are tough as old boots and do not need much care.

Have grown clematis successfully for more than a decade now. Here’s my experience so far. They have mostly outgrown any support I have purchased for them. I made the mistake one year, of buying one, a purple, seeing it look like a spindly little thing, and buying another, pink, to keep it company. Before long, I planted another, thinking three colors would be gorgeous. I was right, they are, but even the new 8 foot high, pretty heavy garden trellis I bought, is really not big enough. Those three plants are each huge in their own right, and I am now tying them up when they fall en masse to one side or another. They seem to love the spot, and come the spring of next year, I will try and do a better job of trimming it off as they grow. Sun, and lots of it works best. Reasonable water, and feeding every spring. I have also dug one out of a spot it had been in for almost two years with so so results. I thought that this gentle plant with the tiny tendrils would be a breeze to get out. Forget it. I eventually took a chisel to the ground and got out what I could. It thrived where I put it, and, it too, outgrew its trellis. But, digging them out is pretty tough, and I had new clematis coming out of the ground the following year because of the left over roots. I have five of them now, and am pleased with the longevity, color and relative ease of care. But, oh, those roots!

Help please! I bought a money tree plant in October, I repotted it and it began to drop leaves and leaves where turning yellow and have notches in them. It took about a month or more for the soil to dry out so I became worried about root rot so I stopped watering. I also became concerned that I may have planted the trunk a little to low in the soil, so is pushed the soil away from the trunk. It seemed to help it came back and with lots of new foliage. But now here it is May I haven't lost anymore leaves since December or any yellow leaves. BUT now I noticed one of the trunks on it is dried out at the bottom like if its dehydrated. Is there any way of saving it? Any recommendations? Thank You

Hmm well I’m glad you fixed it being too low in the soil, that will definitely kill it, likewise the soil should stay wet for no more than 3-4 days. Consider moving it outside in a shaded area for summer

Hi Devin, I just broke off last year’s hibiscus branches (they just snap off which is kind of relaxing). Since they’re like a hardwood and have twigs toward the top, it’s like a natural “hook” for a vine, Each year I get a new supply of free plant stakes. And they kind of look good too!
